The Care and Cleaning of Quartz
(Hanstone, Silestone, Technistone…)
Quartz is a durable, nonporous surface that is simple to clean and maintain. It does not require sealants or waxes. In order to maintain its luster, soap and water or a mild detergent is all that is required. If necessary, a non-abrasive cleaner such as Soft Scrub Liquid Gel or Comet Soft Cleanser Cream can be used along with a non-scratch or delicate scrub pad such as Scotch-Brite sponge. You may also use a mild household cleaner on polished surfaces, such as 409, Fantastik, Lysol, or Windex. Adhered materials like food, gum, nail polish, or dried paint, can be scraped away with a putty knife. Any marks left by the blade can be removed with Soft Scrub Liquid Gel and a Scotch-Brite pad. Thoroughly rinse with clean water to remove residue.
To maintain the beauty of Quartz, do not place hot skillets or roasting pans directly on the surface. We recommend the use of trivets and hot pads. We also recommend using a cutting board verses cutting any food directly on your countertops. Even though Quartz surfaces resist permanent staining from most liquids, fruits and vegetables, you should wipe up the food or liquid as soon as possible.
If you have a honed finish on your countertops, they may require more maintenance. Since there is more exposed surface area, metal marks, finger prints, and other signs of daily living will show on honed material. Most of these marks can be removed with little effort and non-abrasive cleaning products such as Soft Scrub Liquid Gel with Bleach. For tougher stains, scrub the area with a blue Scotch Brite pad.
